Township of Washington, NJ – October 7, 2010 – The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation has donated $10,000 to Valley Home Care’s Butterflies Program, an in-home pediatric palliative care and hospice program based in Paramus. The donation will help underwrite the costs of the program’s direct care staff.

The Butterflies Program was founded in 1999 to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill children and their families in Bergen and Hudson County. Therapists, home health aides and volunteers complement a core team consisting of the child’s physician, nurse, chaplain and social worker.

The program provides comprehensive home care services focused on relieving the suffering of the patients. Support is available to family members throughout the course of the child’s illness, including counseling and bereavement services.

“We are pleased to offer our financial assistance to the dedicated staff of the Butterflies Program,” said Kevin J. Lynch, President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation and Chairman, President and CEO of Oritani Bank. “The special care that they provide to the young patients and their families represents an invaluable service that is more than worthy of our support.”  Founded in 2007, the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation has awarded grants to the Butterflies Program for the past three years.

The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation was established to assist not-for-profit organizations that help to improve the quality of life for residents in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties.  Since its inception, the Foundation has donated $1.25 million to local charitable organizations, primarily in support of education, health & human services, youth programs, and affordable housing.

Oritani Bank is a 99 year old community bank with over $2 billion in assets, based in the Township of Washington, New Jersey.  Oritani Bank is a publicly held company trading on the NASDAQ with the trading symbol “ORIT.”  Oritani Bank has 22 branches throughout Bergen, Hudson and Passaic Counties, and offers a full line of deposit and loan services to both retail and commercial customers.  For more information, call 888-ORITANI, or visit their website, www.oritani.com.
