Township of Washington, NJ – October 26, 2009 – The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to Oasis, A Haven for Women and Children. Oasis is a charitable non-profit organization in Paterson that provides women and their children with food, clothing and educational opportunities.
A significant part of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation’s grant helped fund Oasis’ summer camp for at-risk youth, Carl’s Kids Camp for Kids. The free camp lasted for six weeks during July and August. Children received daily breakfast and lunch, and activities included swimming at Spring Lake and field trips to museums and zoos.
Throughout the year, Oasis provides educational resources and training to help women obtain meaningful employment. The free adult education program offers classes in GED (High School Equivalency), ESL (English as a Second Language) and computer training. Infant and toddler care is available so that the mothers can concentrate on their studies.
Kevin J. Lynch, President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation and Chairman, President and CEO of Oritani Bank stated, “Oritani Bank is always looking for ways to support organizations dedicated to assisting members of our community. We are pleased that this grant helped to provide the opportunity for area children to have an enjoyable and enriching summer experience.”
