Township of Washington, NJ – April 5, 2009 – At their annual Builder of the Year Dinner, Habitat for Humanity of Hudson County recognized the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation with a Corporate Partnership Award for their grant of $25,000 to this Habitat affiliate. These funds have been earmarked for two homes currently being built at 476 and 478 Ocean Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity offers hard working, low-income families the unique opportunity to own their own home at an affordable cost. They build and rehabilitate simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. The Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
OritaniBank Charitable Foundation has been a long time supported the Habitat affiliates in Bergen County, Paterson and is please to be able to also assist Habitat in Hudson County. “Despite tough economic times, our commitment to the well being of the communities we serve, will not waiver. We are proud to invest in high-impact initiatives and encourage other businesses to join us in sponsoring worthy local charities. Philanthropic efforts are part of the Foundation's core values and we remain dedicated to creating positive change in the places we live and work,” states Kevin Lynch, President of OritaniBank Charitable Foundation, President and CEO of Oritani Bank.
The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation was established in 2007 to assist not-for-profit organizations that help to improve the quality of life for residents in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated over $800,000 to local charitable organizations.
