Township of Washington, NJ – October 19, 2009 – The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation has awarded a $15,000 grant to Eva’s Village in support of their recently expanded Hope Residence of St. Frances for Mothers and Children. Eva’s Village is a comprehensive, non-profit social service agency in Paterson that provides the needy with food, shelter, addiction treatment and medical care.
First established in 1984 as Eva’s Shelter for Mothers and Children, the Hope Residence was greatly expanded in November 2008 with funding from businesses and charities, including a grant from the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation. The Hope Residence can now provide a safe, comfortable home for up to thirty mothers and seventy children. Residents benefit from an array of social services that help prepare them for independent living.
The new grant from the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation will help fund the therapeutic support services offered by the residence. These services include visits with family therapists and physical and mental health professionals as well as anger management and art therapy for the children. “We are honored to be in a position to provide financial support to Eva’s Village as they reach out to help the most vulnerable members of our community,” stated Kevin J. Lynch, President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation and Chairman, President and CEO of Oritani Bank.
